Oración por la Sagrada Familia
Dios, lleno de amor, recién nacido, bendice a nuestra familia con la ternura de tu amor. Únase a nosotros para aquellos que se convierten en familia. Es parte de nuestra familia, para que todos podamos crecer en edad, sabiduría y gracia. Os pedimos en unidad con el Espíritu Santo, que vive junto a Jesús y reina con vosotros, por los siglos de los siglos.
FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY In today’s Gospel we hear how God sent his only begotten Son into the world. Jesus was born into a December 25, human family as a Jew who was raised according to the teaching and wisdom of God's word in the Hebrew Scriptures and the religious customs of his people. Jesus was born under the law of Moses and was circumcised on the eighth day and given his name, Jesus which means "God saves."
We know little about Jesus' early life at home in Nazareth. Luke in his Gospel account gives us a glimpse of Jesus' growth as a boy into young manhood. Luke tells us that Jesus was obedient to his parents, Mary, his mother and Joseph, his foster father. As devout and God-fearing Jews, Joseph and Mary raised the boy Jesus according to the Scriptures and Jewish customs. It was the duty of all Jewish parents to raise their children in the instruction and wisdom of God's word in the Scriptures.
Jews were expected to travel to Jerusalem for the high feasts each year (Passover, Pentecost, Tabernacles). Jesus undoubtedly traveled with his parents every year from Nazareth to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover. This eighty-mile journey normally took three days. So, families often traveled in large groups, for safety and comfort.
Luke records a remarkable incident which happened when Jesus went up to the temple at Jerusalem for his first Passover at the dawn of his manhood. It was at this key turning point in his earthly life that Jesus took the name "father" from Joseph and addressed it to God his Father in heaven. His answer to his mother's anxious inquiry reveals his confident determination to pursue his heavenly Father's will.
Did you not know that I must be in my father’s house? While Jesus identified himself as Son of the eternal Father in heaven, he, submitted himself with love and obedience to Mary and Joseph. Like all godly parents, Mary and Joseph raised their son in the fear and wisdom of God. Do you seek to love and serve your family and to pursue peace and harmony in your home, neighborhood, and community? Then, follow the path of Jesus example. Amen
FIESTA DE LA SAGRADA FAMILIA En el Evangelio de hoy escuchamos cómo Dios envió a su Hijo unigénito al mundo. Jesús nació el 25 de diciembre en el seno de una familia humana, como judío, y fue criado según las enseñanzas y la sabiduría de la palabra de Dios en las Sagradas Escrituras hebreas y las costumbres religiosas de su pueblo. Jesús nació bajo la ley de Moisés, fue circuncidado al octavo día y recibió el nombre de Jesús, que significa "Dios salva".
Sabemos poco sobre la infancia de Jesús en su hogar en Nazaret. Lucas, en su Evangelio, nos da una breve visión del crecimiento de Jesús desde niño hasta la juventud. Lucas nos cuenta que Jesús era obediente a sus padres, María, su madre, y José, su padre adoptivo. Como judíos devotos y temerosos de Dios, José y María criaron al niño Jesús según las Escrituras y las costumbres judías. Era deber de todos los padres judíos educar a sus hijos en la instrucción y la sabiduría de la palabra de Dios en las Escrituras.
Se esperaba que los judíos viajaran a Jerusalén para las grandes fiestas cada año (Pascua, Pentecostés y Tabernáculos). Jesús, sin duda, viajaba con sus padres todos los años desde Nazaret a Jerusalén para la fiesta de la Pascua. Este viaje de ochenta millas normalmente duraba tres días. Por lo tanto, las familias a menudo viajaban en grupos grandes, por seguridad y comodidad.
Lucas narra un incidente notable que ocurrió cuando Jesús subió al templo de Jerusalén para su primera Pascua, al comienzo de su juventud. Fue en este momento crucial de su vida terrenal que Jesús dejó de llamar "padre" a José y se dirigió a Dios, su Padre celestial. Su respuesta a la preocupada pregunta de su madre revela su firme determinación de cumplir la voluntad de su Padre celestial.
¿No sabíais que me es necesario estar en la casa de mi Padre? Si bien Jesús se identificó como Hijo del Padre eterno en el cielo, se sometió con amor y obediencia a María y José. Como todos los padres piadosos, María y José criaron a su hijo en el temor y la sabiduría de Dios. ¿Buscas amar y servir a tu familia y buscar la paz y la armonía en tu hogar, vecindario y comunidad? Entonces, sigue el ejemplo de Jesús. Amén.
